Description

Filter media test rigs from Palas® have already proved themselves many times over all around the world in practical applications in development and quality control.

The HFP filter test rig is a modular filter testing system for flat filter media and small mini-filters.

The HFP 2000 can be used to determine:

  • pressure loss curve for the new medium
  • fraction separation efficiency or
  • burden and fraction separation efficiency during application of the burden

within shortest times – reliably and therefore cost-effectively.

The aerosol generators are easy to interchange and coordinated with the overall system. As a result, filter tests can be performed quickly and easily with the different test aerosols.

With the aid of the light scattering spectrometer Promo® 2000, clear and reliable determination of the aerosol concentration and the particle size and therefore a clear determination of the fraction separation efficiency can be ensured.

The largely automated setup of the test sequence together with the clearly defined individual components and the individually adjustable sequence programs of the filter test software FTControl combine to deliver the high reliability of our measurement results.

Composition:

Aufbau HFP 2000

The aerosols are generated using the Palas® PLG 2000 aerosol generators or the AGF 3000 for very high mass flows.

A special aerosol processing unit ensures uniform distribution of the test aerosol in the raw gas section.

The horizontal layout of the HFP 2000 test system allows the separated fluid to flow off on the filter medium. The representative sampling for the aerosol measurement is located behind the filter medium. With the aid of the aerosol spectrometer Promo® 2000, the raw gas concentration and the particle size are determined beforehand without a filter.

During the application of the burden on the filter medium, the clean gas concentration is continuously recorded with the Promo® 2000, thus enabling the fraction separation efficiency to be determined during application of the burden.

Automation

The HFP 2000 has integrated mass flow controllers that it uses to control the volume flow; these can be automatically monitored and controlled via the FTControl filter test software. Integrated sensor data such as the volume flow and differential pressure at the filter are of course also recorded during the filter test.

  • Determination and representation of the pressure loss curve and retention curve in diagram and table form The representation of the particle diameters at 80% and 95 % separation efficiency provides additional information.
  • Comparison of the fraction separation efficiencies during the different burdening steps
  • Shortening of the measurement times, e.g. through increased aerosol concentration
